She graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1998 and completed a fellowship in Hospital Dentistry at Shahid Beheshti University. Dr. Akhavan has treated children from a young age through adolescence and also served as an assistant professor, mentoring dental students.

After moving to Canada, she earned her license to practice dentistry in Ontario. Dr. Akhavan is dedicated to providing exceptional care at SmileTown and is a proud member of the Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
